The sensory forest—a glade of sight

In autumn, when temperatures drop and the intensity of the sun decreases, trees turn red, orange and yellow. This is due to the breakdown of chlorophyll—the natural green pigment which, during the growing season, gives leaves a green color and masks other hues in the leaves.

The following are just some of the trees in the Las Odkrywców that change colors:

  • Maples (Acer,) turn shades of yellow and orange,
  • Oaks (Quercus,) turn red (red oak) or brown (skipper oak,)
  • Rowans (Sorbus aucuparial,) turn yellow, orange and red colors,
  • Larches (Larix,) take on an intense yellow color.

In our glade of sight you will find leaf puzzles and “perforated” educational boards that change with the season. These will help you learn all of the different kinds of leaf shapes, structures, and edges.

But that’s not all! Stop for a moment at the art installations—there are many optical illusions and colors, which can help you learn the names of various hues in foreign languages.

Hey, Explorer!

Are you familiar with our leaf puzzles? If so, you are ready for our leafy climbing wall! By stepping on each successive wooden leaf, you will be able to identify what kind of tree it is.
